Things that you MAY NOT know about Natural Hair and your journey

First things first do not develop a case of "hair envy". While it's true that Youtube is one of the best sources for learning about your natural hair and how to take care of it, it can mess you up at the same time. You'll see so many natural journey videos and you'll see all these women and men with long or thick hair and yours may not be quite there at the moment. Its okay! Growing hair takes time so always be patient. And secondly not every one has the same hair type. For me I was always obsessed with a girl on there with this coily, but not tight, curl pattern and I got so frustrated because regardless of what I did with my hair I couldn't get it like hers. But over time I had to get it through my head that our curl pattern isn't the same. And just because my hair isn't all exotically curly its still good hair. So love YOUR hair.

Secondly sealing in moisture is very important BUT you have to make sure you're doing it right. I'm not going to lie I just now found out what I was doing wrong lol. First of all you can't seal what you don't have. What I mean by that is you can't seal in moisture on dry limp hair. The best way to do this is to wash your hair then apply a small amount of leave in conditioner to your hair (in sections) THEN seal in that moisture with a natural oil (I always use coconut because it's light). So seal it right.

Always beware of tugging and rubbing of your hair. Wear a scarf at night. Lots of people don't know this or believe it but your hair can be damaged and pulled as you sleep. Don't be stubborn just tie it up at night haha.

You really, really have to DRINK WATER. Healthy hair starts on the inside. So suck it up...literally.

Try not to wash your hair with shampoo. I know it might sound crazy but so many of the shampoos on the market just dry out your hair because of all the crazy things they have in them. Pick a great moisturizing conditioner and 'wash' with that instead. I've only found 2 shampoos that I might actually use that doesn't irritate my hair, the Kinky Curly shampoo and the dominican silicone shampoo (found it on roundbrushhair blog) .

Lastly don't wash your hair if you're not going to take the time to do what needs to be done afterward. That means be ready to detangle, moisturize, seal, and if you plan on doing a style for the next day like braidouts and twistouts.

Keep it simple and be patient.

Where have I been?

First off I temporarily croaked my writing career. I won't lie. Once I saw my first check of $95 I was like wow. This is some bullshit. I made the Amazon top seller's list for Urban fiction and all I made was $95. I wondered where in the hell did the money go? I know my book couldn't have sucked that bad. So....I quit my previous publishing company and altogether felt like I was done. I felt so defeated and backstabbed I couldn't even deal. Lots of shady things just had me in a completely different state of mind. So instead I just sat at home. Doing lots of nothing and mostly being pissed off at the world lol.

Months later/now, I'm writing D&K part 2. And going INNNNNN on my new fitness journey as well as my spiritual and just life in general. Its a slow uphill climb but eventually I will get there. This time lesson learned for sure. I felt so stuck for so long I just gave up on life pretty much. So with that being said and with a whole new mental state its game on! So check the blog often because there will be plenty of posts and updates. The next few months (hopefully) should be pretty productive and interesting.

My kind of justice: Girl Cuts off Father's Head After Rape

1: The headline alone should be enough to piss anyone off. FATHER rapes his own daughter.  What a disgusting p.o.s.
2: That's exactly what he deserves for what he did.
3: This story actually made me smile because it gives you some hope for humanity (the town protecting the girl)

     So this disgusting pig snuck into his daughters room either while everyone else was sleeping or away and raped his daughter multiple times.....The last time he went to rape her the girl cut his head off with a bush knife

. GOOD FOR HER! Now at this time her village has created a protective circle around the 18 year old refusing to hand her over to the authorities. The village believes that her father deserved to die in the way that he did because he was an 'evil man'. Sounds like my kind of justice for sure.

So okay peep this: This creepy old bastard finds his neighbor passed out and instead of trying to save her life what does he do? He brings her in to his apartment and tried to bang her. No he didn't try and wrap her in a blanket (since he claimed he was cold) or even throw her in a warm shower nope! He tried to have sex/had sec with her...DISGUSTING! Peep the story below!

Inspiration from a VERY unlikely source.

     So a few days ago I was talking to my neighbor and it came up that I wrote a book. He didn't believe me so I went and grabbed a copy of D&K and showed it to him and he was completely in awe.
"Man that is really badass!" He smiled and flipped through the pages.
     I didn't really know how to take it. I was kind of just staring blankly like 'Why is he making such a big deal about this?' But then he went on and on for forever about how he was super proud to even know me and if he were me he'd be doing book signing every where and be all like 'ha-ha bitches I got published' and it finally hit me...I'm so taking my God given gift for granted. What the hell has been wrong with me that I can't even see when I've done something truly extraordinary with my life. I was really touched by his compliments. And I decided then on my pity party that I'd been throwing for myself was officially over.
     What pity part? Well let's see first we lost one of our cars due to an electrical fire  then I had my own personal drama at home. And now one of my relatives is sick in the hospital and I'm terrified. But then I had to realize that me sitting at home sulking is not going to change anything. Being the leader of the woe is me parade was getting old and fast! So thankfully he unknowingly came along and slapped me out of it haha. So now I'm back to me, Mari ^_~

Sooooo once again trying a new skin care regimen. And this is my last hoorah basically because if this doesn't work (as much as I hate going to regular doctors) I'm gonna consider some type of cosmetic procedure. Just WHYYYY is it that after I have a child my skin decides to get all evil on me? Ugh so anyway day one looks like this

So for now I'm turning to the ancient practive of Ayurvedic healing because like I said I'd rather not go to the typical western doctor. Too many side effects from the crap that's supposed to be helping you. Blah!

THe Human Centipede 1 and 2

I'm not even going to spend a lot of time on this because quite honestly I'm pissed off that I wasted hours of my life watching these. Don't get me wrong they had really great movie lines but its just the way that the characters went about acting it out that pissed me off to the fullest of pistivity (as my my mami would say).

So part one obviously the guy is like a retired surgeon and he gets this creepy idea to make a human centipede and of course a centipede has one digestive track soooo of course his centipede will too.

So heres where the movie got gross! In order to make sure that not just the first part of the centipede was fed and nourished the crazy Dr cut the anus of the first person and the mouth of the person behind so that he could secure their mouth over the person's butthole so whenever part A pooped part B well....ate it. THe same thing goes for part B and C. GROSS! Oh and he cut their knee bones out to make sure they could never stand up again...double gross.

     Now onto the things that pissed me off the most about this movie. The first thing that comes to my mind is that when one of the girls goes to escape she manages to get all the way outside BUT this dummy decides shes going to try and drag her drugged up/knocked out friend with her. Like how freaking far do you think you're going to get when you can barely walk AND you're going to try and drag her all the way to safety...stupid! Then it makes the German police look hella stupid because two detectives show up to Mr Creepy Dr's house and he is acting stranger than a mother-fraction and they don't seem to respond to it at all. And to top it off the Dr offers them a drink and they accept it! So of course you already know the Dr has dropped something in their drinks...stupid stupid stupid. And finally the last thing that made me so mad!!!!
     When the Dr keeps insisting that Cop A drink his water the cop slaps it out of his hand and onto the floor. Then the Dr really starts flipping out acting crazier and even this doesn't really seem to put up the detectives radar. The Dr goes away to say he's going to get a towel, which he does, BUT he also comes back with a syringe containing some crap to knock Cop A out since his stupid partner is already messed up from drinking all his water. Now the ward for big dummy of the year: At one point the creepy Dr is cleaning up the floor but accidentally drops the cloth he was cleaning with and tucked inside was the syringe. Normally I would think the cops would draw their weapons and be like all crazy but these idiots simply leave and say they'll return later on. And they do...JUST THE TWO OF THEM!

Long story short movie pissed me off from middle to end.

Centipede part 2.....was basically a sick, self mutilating, creepy guy with childhood issues who was obsessed

Lemme just jump right into to what pissed me off. Nevermind it being in black and white the ENTIRE time but the little creep gets his victims at the parking garage where he works as security. Fair enough he takes whoever happens to be in the garage late at night while he's there. BUT at one point he sees a family: a PREGNANT mother, a little baby boy, and the dad. He takes both parents and leaves the baby in the car crying its poor little head off. Then to make matters worse eventually the mother gets away and escapes into a car and she has her baby but then while shes mashing on the gas to get away she crushes her baby's head

. That shit is not at all cool! I understand you want the gore factor in your movies but don't be a freaking idiot. After that I didn't really give two shits about the movie. So part two was overall a piece of shit. Screw the storyline, screw the characters, when you have a baby dying in a movie like that you can count on me to hate your guts forever....don't watch it.

ALWAYS let them know....

I had the worst/craziest dream I've ever had in my entire life. In my dream I died and I didn't even know I was gone. I went back home and for the life of me I couldn't figure out why no one could see me or hear me. I tried writing things down on paper, touching them, even tried carving hello into soap and nothing worked. The part that REALLY killed me about this dream was when finally I saw my mother coming and all I wanted more than anything at that moment was to just tell her I love her and I couldn't. So if there was a moral or message to the dream I got it loud and clear! The very first thing I did this morning when my feet hit the floor was send a text (I didn't call because I thought she was at work) to my mom saying I love you. I'll never miss another opportunity to tell her that again. Man that dream has me all types of messed up this morning...ugh. Love you mom <3

Sooo I'm doing this post really quick because I was just blown away by these shoes

And yes I did stop right in the middle of doing laundry to post this! 

I can't believe how comfortable the jeans were! No muffin top! No weird bulges anywhere! Hugs my booty just right. AMEN!

Now as far as the shoes, they were definitely dropped from heaven too. Ultra comfortable! Like holy crabs! I'm definitely buying more!

Instant Success is possible!

It's so crazy! My book came out on e-readers a few days ago and it's been killing the charts ever since. Talk about a blessing! I have no idea how it happened but first my publisher sent a text telling me that she hasn't even announced that the book was out yet and she was getting sales. THEN she said she was getting emails from people asking for a part 2.

I was taken aback by that but then the real kick in the butt was when my hubby told me I was in one of the top 100 list on the Kindle. And it's amazing to say that after a week I'm STILL there and the last time I checked I was ranked 11 in African American women's fiction. Holy s!#%! Whoa!

I'm still having a hard time taking it all in. I've never really had anything like that happen for me so I'm still kind of like....cool lol. But it's sinking in slowly :) So thank you to everyone who purchased a copy! And special thanks to those who let reviews! All positive so far :) *crossing fingers* Hopefully the positive feedback will continue so I'll be a little bit more motivated to make a part 2

It's almost 2 am and I'm having a meltdown it seems. I don't know if I'm crying tears of joy or sadness but it turns out that contrary to what people told me the first guy I ever fell head over heels for/my homie/ the inspiration for D&K is not dead......he's actually alive but he's not himself. I won't put out all the details to respect him and his family but I was told that he had been in an accident and died...instead by a miracle he survived it he's....I just wow. It really just broke my heart to see him like that. It's crazy. I pray that he even has the capacity to remember me and our friendship. Damn man. It takes a lot to break me down like this.
